Review: CZX Super Heroes & Super-Villains Cards and DC Lil Bombshells Figures
Cryptozoic Entertainment recently provided the Superman Super Site with a review sample of their CZX Super Heroes & Super-Villains premium trading cards and Bronze Variants of their Series 3 DC Lil Bombshells Figures.
The thick, glossy, high quality trading cards are absolutely stunning and feature a 54-card base set with images from "Aquaman," "Justice League," "Wonder Woman," "Suicide Squad," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Man of Steel," "The Dark Knight Rises," "The Dark Knight," and "Batman Begins"!
In addition to the base card set are several series of randomly inserted cards including ones that feature hand signed autographs from such DC film actors as Henry Cavill (Superman/Clark Kent - "Man of Steel"), Ben Affleck (Batman/Bruce Wayne - "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman/Diana Prince - "Wonder Woman"), Jason Momoa (Aquaman/Arthur Curry - "Aquaman"), Ezra Miller (The Flash/Barry Allen "Justice League"), Tao Okamoto (Mercy Graves - "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"), and Robin Atkin Downes (Doomsday - "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice").
While we were not lucky enough to come across an autograph card of Cavill, Affleck, or Gadot, we were still thrilled to find a hand signed card of actor Nestor Carbonell who starred as Gotham City's Mayor Anthony Garcia in both "The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises".
Also featured are original one-of-a-kind sketch cards by various artists and we were beyond thrilled to come across one of these unique cards of actor Henry Cavill as Superman which was drawn by the amazingly talented artist Brad Utterstrom. These cards as well as the autograph cards are randomly inserted into the CZX packs and can be found on an average of 1:6 packs.
We were also luck enough to obtain a red foil variant of the base card set which featured a scene of actor Ezra Miller in his role as The Flash from "Justice League". There are also grenn and silver foil variant sets which our sample box was unfortunately void of.
If obtaining an autograph card, hand drawn sketch card, and red foil variant card were not enough, one of our trading card packs contained a collectible Printing Plate Card featuring an image of actress Margot Robbie in her role as Harley Quinn from "Suicide Squad".
These rare cards, which are available in only 1:36 packs, are used to create the actual trading cards during the printing process and then flattened out and cut up into printing plate cards. Having one of these cards is truly unique, as only one plate for each color was used during the printing process and is the only one in existence.
Lastly, there are also two chase sets to be on the lookout for; a Film Cel Chase Set printed on PETG acetate with cards created to resemble actual film cels from various DC movies and "STR PWR" Chase Set which showcases characters from various DC movies on rare, high-quality cards printed on foil board. We were lucky enough to acquire one each of these amazing cards in our sample set; a film cell image from "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and a STR PWR image of actress Gal Gadot in her role as Wonder Woman from "Justice League".
The CZX Super Heroes & Super-Villains premium trading cards are currently available at various comic book stores and retail locations. Each box retails for $249.95 (SRP) and includes 6 packs per box and 5 cards per pack.
The DC Lil Bombshells Figures are featured as an exclusive bonus item with the DC Bombshells Trading Cards II and come packaged one per box. The second set based on the popular DC Bombshells puts the spotlight on artistic interpretations of the 1940s-inspired characters. It features a Base Set with art taken from the Sketch Cards of the previous release, four Chase Sets, and randomly inserted one-of-a-kind Sketch Cards with new art from some of today's hottest artists.
The figures are rare Golden Goddess/Golden God variants of the Series 3 DC Lil Bombshells vinyl figure line and include Harley Quinn, Superman, The Joker, Raven, or Starfire. Alternately, some boxes contain an ultra rare Bronze variant of one of the figures.
Cryptozoic Entertainment was kind enough to provide us with both the Superman and Joker versions of these ultra rare Bronze variants which come packaged in a white and gold displayable window box. Superman is featured as a classic circus strong man while the Joker is showcased in his classic suit complete with cane.
